The April 12th  From Palestine to Guantanamo event is taking place at the 
SomArts gallery where the incredible MADE IN PALESTINE art exhibit is being 
held.  If you are planning to come to the Political Prisoner event next 
Tuesday the 12th, be sure to get there at 6:30 pm when the doors open to 
have time to look at the exhibit before the program with Palestinian 
ex-political prisoners begins.

Below is the schedule for the two-week exhibit.


MADE IN PALESTINE
The first comprehensive exhibition of contemporary Palestinian art in  the U.S.

April 7-21ST

Made in Palestine on view at SomArts, San Francisco, April 7 through  April 
21, 2005. The exhibition showcases a collection of contemporary  art made 
by 23 Palestinian artists and refugees, who live in the  occupied 
territories and the Diaspora. The works on display cover a  wide range of 
media and present individual reflections on the  Palestinian contemporary 
experience and the political situation in  Palestine. The Station Museum, 
Houston, where the show originated,  described Made In Palestine as “the 
first exhibit of contemporary  Palestinian art ever displayed in the United

Gallery Hours
During the two weeks that Made in Palestine is on display at SomArts,  the 
gallery hours will be:
Tuesday and Wednesday: 12-4pm
Thursday, Friday and Saturday: 12-7pm
Sunday: 12-6pm

SUNDAY, APRIL 10
ARAB YOUTH ARTISTIC SOCIAL  / POLITICAL GATHERING:
This event will connect the Arab youth to his brothers and sisters  within 
the diaspora. There will be a variety of Arab performers,  including a DJ, 
spoken word artists, debka, and more.
Ages 13­19 years of age. The first of monthly events that can align  the 
Arab youth
voice back to their community and to
society at large.
Time: 2­5:30PM

TUESDAY, APRIL 12
FROM PALESTINE TO GUANTANAMO AND PELICAN BAY:
Presentations by Palestinian ex-political prisoners, a 
film—“Stolen  Youth”, & poetry connecting the struggles of Palestinian 
political  prisoners to struggles against the prison industrial complex in 
North  America, & the plight of immigrants post-911.
Time: 6:30­9PM

THE RIGHT TO RESIST OCCUPATIONS, FROM IRAQ TO PALESTINE:
The occupations of Iraq and Palestine offer nothing but repression  and 
deadly chaos. As the US government bilaterally equates such  resistance 
with terrorism, join us to discuss the role of the  anti-war movement in 
supporting the right to resist.
Time: 7­9PM

FRIDAY, APRIL 15
A TAX DAY SOIREE: After you pay or don’t pay your taxes, join us at SomArts 
Cultural Center for comedy with Maysoon Zayid, music, food & drink. Watch 
for live video cast of the use of tax dollars in Palestine projected at SF 
tax drop-off locations.
Time: 8­10PM, doors open at 7:30PM

PIANO CONCERT BY RAMI KHALIFE:
Join us for a unique opportunity to enjoy the astounding work of 23-year 
old, Lebanese pianist for a solo piano performance from his new CD release 
"Scene from Hellek", an avant garde Jazz compositions with influences from 
the classical, world and Arabic music genres.
