Supporters of battered women,
Today marks another day that politics trumped justice.
In a decision supposedly signed Oct. 15 but not released until Friday
evening on Oct. 22, Governor Schwarzenegger REVERSED the parole
recommendation for incarcerated survivor and mother of two, Flozelle
Woodmore. The written decision virtually copied those of former Governor
Gray Davis, who reversed Flozelle's parole TWICE, once in 2002 and again in
2003.
Flozelle, her children, and her family have suffered long enough.
The Governor's decision will be challenged in court, but we need the public
to voice your outrage.
On October 22, 2004, the Governors office REVERSED the parole
recommendation for battered woman prisoner Flozelle Woodmore for the THIRD
YEAR IN A ROW, despite the fact that:
· She shot her abusive boyfriend after being tortured by him for 5 years
· She has already served 18 years in prison, even though this was
her first offense
· She was only 13 years old when she met her batterer, and only 18
when she shot him
· Her batterers family supports her release
· Flozelle has not had a single serious disciplinary write-up since
1992over 12 years ago!
· Flozelle has been recommended for release three years in a row by
the parole board
Are you outraged that OVER HALF A MILLION DOLLARS of your tax money has
already been spent to keep Flozelle locked up? Then let Arnold know!
Demand that he reconsider his decision! Demand that he release lifers when
the parole board says they should go home! Call or write to:
