Every Child is Born a Poet: The Life and Work of Piri Thomas is a mix of 
documentary, poetry, storytelling, drama, and performance.  The film 
explores the life and work of Piri Thomas, the 75-year old 
Afro-Cuban-Puerto Rican author of the classic autobiographical novel "Down 
These Mean Streets" (1967).

The video screening will be followed by a live musical performance featuring
Avotcha, poet and multi-percussionist, Francis Wong on saxophone, John 
Santos on percussion and Coto Pincheira on piano


Special Puerto Rican delicacies provided by Rico Pabon and
desserts by the Sankofa Kitchen students
