Israel Has Killed 3,045 Palestinians in Past 42 Months

Israeli occupying forces (IOF) have killed 3,045 Palestinians and 38,000 
have been wounded throughout Palestinians cities, towns, villages and 
refugee camps in the past 42 months, according to a report of the 
Palestinian State Information Service (SIS).

And the death toll will continue as the conflict will surely linger on, 
especially after George W. Bush became the first US president to legitimize 
the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands by supporting the so-called 
disengagement plan of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

By disengagement, Sharon means to pull several small Jewish settlements 
from the Gaza Strip while reinforcing and expanding large settlements in 
the West Bank. Bush also ruled out allowing Palestinians to return to 
Israel after a Palestinian state is created.

In its report, the SIS´s Palestinian National Information Centre (PNIC), 
said the death toll included 557 children, 220 women and 344 others of the 
Palestinian police forces.

Seven hundred and thirty-two victims have fallen due to Israeli shelling as 
230 others died in assassination attempts carried out by Israeli warplanes, 
including 90 untargeted civilians. Five hundred and twenty-three were 
killed due to miscellaneous Israeli practices in the Palestinian territories.

The report also pointed out that the number of patients who died as a 
result of IOF practices on military checkpoints and border crossings 
reached 105, due to disruption of movement, 43 victims of Israeli settler 
attacks.

As for the victims of the Palestinian medical crews and civil defence 
staffs, they reached 29, while killed journalists were nine, as press 
rights have been violated by IOF 373 times. The Palestinian sport movement 
suffered a toll of 220 victims out of the total number of killed 
Palestinians, PNIC´s report hinted.

With regards to the wounded Palestinians are concerned, PNIC´s statistical 
figures showed that 38,809 Palestinians have been wounded by IOF, 8,435 of 
whom received medication on the spot. Teachers and students wounded during 
the last 42 months were 5,660.

The number of Palestinian prisoners throughout the said period of time was 
7,500 including 5,920 recorded by the Palestinian Prisoners Affairs 
Ministry, in 22 Israeli jails and concentration camps.

Among those prisoners were 1,252 students and 196 teachers of schools, 
colleges and universities, as minor prisoners were 336.

Those patients arrested by IOF at checkpoints and roadblocks reached 767, 
as the number of women prisoners reached 80, including 24 sentenced for 
different prison service terms, and 54 have been in custody without trial 
as two others have been under administrative detention.

In its statistical survey, PNIC did not ignore the Palestinian financial 
losses inflicted by IOF measures during the last 42 months: some 570 
governmental buildings have been damaged due to being shelled by Israeli 
fire and 61,513 Palestinian houses were partially and completely damaged, 
including 5,263 completely and 2,772 partially in Gaza Strip alone.

These houses also included 56,250 that have been partially damaged 
including 16,186 in the Gaza Strip.

Schools have not been spared the Israeli devastating actions, as 12 schools 
and universities have been frequently closed by IOF while 1,125 others, 
including educational buildings, have been denied normal activities.

Three hundred and two schools and educational offices as well as 
universities have been exposed to Israeli shelling as 43 other schools have 
been turned into military outposts.

According to the PNIC, the area of Palestinian lands bulldozed by the IOF 
was 62,044 dunums, as 991,581 trees have been uprooted, while 457 
agricultural stores and 472 pens were destroyed, as 12,892 livestock were 
killed as well as 840 cows and 9,738 beehives destroyed.

Also, IOF demolished 262 wells completely and destroyed 207 agricultural 
stores including devastation of 171,589 pens, as 22,013 dunums of lands 
have been bulldozed, 1,014 water wells and 288,985 meters of farms fences, 
and 714,719 others of water lines have been destroyed.

The Israeli aggressions on the Palestinian agricultural sector resulted in 
damages to 10,323 farmers, bulldozing of six greenhouses and destruction of 
12 tractors, as the lands expropriated for the Apartheid Wall in West Bank 
is substantially high.

The report said that the rate of unemployment in the occupied Palestinian 
territories reached 60 percent, as the number of unemployed was 302,000 
constituting 43.7 percent of the Palestinians, as the IOF destroyed 8,117 
economic establishments including workshops and shops.

The PNIC recorded that the IOF shelled residential and civilian population 
centres in Palestinian cities, towns, villages and refugee camps, for 
24,453 times and placed 2,137 military checkpoints from October 2001 up to 
present day.
