Mission Against Terror & Legacy of Torture Film Showcase and Discussion

Join SALSA <http://hotsalsa.org/>http://hotsalsa.org/ and the
People's Self Defense Committee of the DC Chapter of the Malcolm X
Grassroots Movement <http://mxgm.org/web/>http://mxgm.org/web/ at
the Festival Center for an evening of two short films, more panelists
and one discussion.

The two films, one about a foreign policy and the other about a
domestic policy, exposes the US government's hand in political
repression and torture. There is a mistaken assumption that the US
government is above political repression or that it's a practice of a
distant past.

Mission Against Terror documents the immoral conviction of five Cuban
<http://www.freethefive.org/>http://www.freethefive.org/ heroes
whose only crime was trying to stop the CIA-sponsored terrorism by
right-wing extremists.

Legacy of Torture (to watch the trailer, click here
<http://youtube.com/watch?v=qcJ0dffGeio>http://youtube.com/watch?v=qcJ0dffGeio
) chronicles the ruthlessness of the U.S. government and its vicious
use of torture against Black people and its current witch-hunt
against eight ex-Black Panthers elders, the San Francisco 8
<http://www.freethesf8.org/>http://www.freethesf8.org/ , decades
later for their political activism during the Civil Rights/Black Power era.

The films will be followed by a discussion with Lumumba Bandele of
the New Afrikan's People's Organization, Eugene Puryear of
A.N.S.W.E.R.
